Fourchette verte

The Swiss Fourchette verte Federation was created in 1999. It is supported by Promotion Santé Suisse (Health Promotion Switzerland).

The Myosotis Foundation child care centers are certified with the Fourchette verte label since their opening. It guarantees that children benefit from a balanced diet and must follow several criteria.

Fourchette verte for young children (from 1 to 4 years old) follows the recommendations of the Swiss food pyramid. In order for child care centers to receive the label, they must offer varied, healthy, balanced menus and snacks. The label is not limited to just food: it ensures compliance with the hygiene-related and sort waste legislation.

Meals frequency and daily portions size are determined according to the recommendations from the Société suisse de Nutrition SSN (Swiss Nutrition Society). Quantities really absorbed by children will depend on their satiety degree and their development stage.

Child care center chefs prepare varied menus and offer a range of meals in a way that make children curious to discover new flavors. A qualitative balance of the menus is provided by carefully selected products:

  • Fats in limited quantity and of good nutritional quality
  • Foods rich in fibers and protective elements
  • High-energy foods rich in carbohydrates
  • Milk products
  • Building and repairing foods rich in protein
  • Deserts and snacks of good quality
